100th India versus England Test at LORD’S

100th India versus England Test at LORD’S

India’s first test against England at Lord’s is still more than a couple of weeks away, but the buzz for the series has been catching every cricket fan’s attention. And why not, the test match is going to be quite a historic one as it will be the 2,000th Test match played, as well as the 100th Test between England and India.

Add to that, when Sachin Tendulkar is just one ton away 100 international centuries, the excitement just gets bigger. He would not mind marking the occasion by becoming the first cricketer to reach the milestone. The Test match, between Pakistan and New Zealand in November 1984, saw a century in each innings by Javed Miandad.

He might be the highest number of century-maker in Test cricket, but he still craves for that elusive one at the Mecca of Cricket, Lord’s.

“This (Lord’s) is the ground all the players dream of getting hundred, I am no different I would want to get one. May be three hundreds in all the Tests here will be good,” Tendulkar told reporters in London.

All in all, though there are a lot of things being said around as the series get closer, the Indian team which has been dominating world cricket for quite some time now, will be giving some hard time to English team for sure, who has a pretty decent record against the Indians at home.

The kind of extravaganza planned for this momentous occasion is yet to be determined. However, given the contest alone, that should be a crowd puller in itself. Undoubtedly, there will be more than one reason to line up for this Test, which is supposedly the 2000th international Test.
